The HIV/AIDS Epidemic in the United States

5/2/2008

The first cases of what would later become known as AIDS were reported in the United States in June of 1981. Since that time, more than 1.7 million people in the U.S. are estimated to have been infected with HIV, including more than 565,000 who have already died and approximately 1.2 million living with HIV/AIDS today. The response to the U.S. epidemic has yielded numerous successes, but challenges remain.  For more information about HIV/AIDS Epidemics in the United States, 2008 follow the link: http://www.nlatinoaddiction.org/Documents/AIDS%20Epidemic%202008.pdf
